Kingfishers

Welcome to Kingfishers

I would like to say a warm welcome to the Kingfishers class and Year 2. We are a class of 30 children.

The class teacher is Mrs McGrath and the teaching assistant is Mrs Patel.

PE

Our PE lessons are every Tuesday and Wednesday this half term so please ensure that your child has a full, named PE kit in school and that we are not wearing earrings on those days. This half term, we will be doing gymnastics

Homework

Homework is given out on a Friday and it will always be linked to what your child is learning about in class. It will be an English and a Maths task. This will be in a yellow homework book and must be returned to school by Wednesday the following week. It is really important that your child completes their homework on their own.

Spellings

Spellings will be given out on a Friday and the children will be tested on them the following Friday. Please help your children to learn their spellings. Spelling will be recorded in a purple pirate book and your child should use the week to practice them.

Reading

We really like reading in Kingfishers so we ask our grown ups to listen to us read and comment in our reading diaries so that we can get our book changed – just a small comment and signature is fine. Books can be changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

We have a special reading scheme to encourage reading and we receive prizes for reading certain numbers of books. We really enjoy this!  If you have any concerns please call in to see our teachers.
