Kingfishers

Welcome to Kingfishers

I would like to say a warm welcome to the Kingfishers class and Year 2. We are a class of 30 children.

The class teacher is Mrs Agnew and the teaching assistants are Mrs Bolt, Mrs Khanporia and Mrs Tagari.

Our PE lessons are every Monday & Thursday this half term so please ensure that your child has a full, named PE kit in school and that we are not wearing earrings on those days.

Homework is given out on a Friday and it will always be linked to what your child is learning about in class. It will be an English and a Maths task :) This will be uploaded to Seesaw.

Spellings will be given out on a Friday and the children will be tested on them the following Friday. Please help you children to learn their spellings.

We really like reading in Kingfishers so we ask our grown ups to listen to us read and comment in our reading diaries so that we can get our book changed – just a small comment and signature is fine. Books will be given out on a Monday and returned on a Thursday (for now).

We will really concentrate on our methods of calculation and using jottings, part-part whole and ten frames to help us solve different calculations. We will strengthen our understanding of numbers beyond 50 and also number facts with those.

Theme – Olympics

Our theme for this half term is 'Olympics'. This is a whole school focus and is a very exciting theme, We will look at ancient Olympics and modern Olympics and compare those. We will also be using our DT skills to make an Olympic torch and also a gold medal.
