Habitats

A habitat is the home of an animal or plant. Almost everywhere on earth is a habitat for some kind of animal or plant, whether it is the hottest desert, the deepest sea, the coldest ice pack or even your back garden.

Have a look under a large stone or a piece of wood outside - what can you see there? Can you draw any of the different creatures that you can see? Why do you think that they like to live there?

When you go for a walk with your grown up, have a look around you. How many different places can you see that an animal might live? Think about the trees, the flowers, the soil, the pond in a park - what might live in these places? Why are these places suited to these particular animals? Why do you think it is important that we take care of all these places?

Below is a link to an Explorify at Home page all about habitats. Have a look at the different habitats in the videos, and see if you can answer the questions about them.
