As One!

Create a Family As One Cake!

As it is nearly the weekend, I thought it would be nice if we could make a cake to have for tea.

When we make a sponge cake. we use different ingredients which we need to mix together so that they all join as one to make something that is delicious to eat.

The flour gives the cake structure.

The sugar gives the cake sweetness.

The margarine proides energy.

The eggs bind it all together.

The decoration makes the cake look spectacular!

INGREDIENTS

  • 225 g self-raising flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 225 g soft margarine
  • 225 g caster sugar
  • 6 drops vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp milk

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 160ºC/140ºC fan/Gas Mark 3

  • Line 2 round cake tins.

  • Sift the  flour and baking powder into a large bowl.

  • Add the remaining ingredients and beat until thoroughly mixed.

  • Pour into the tins

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes. To check if the cake is cooked insert a skewer and if it comes out clean the cake is ready.

  • Leave to cool in the tin for about 10 minutes and then move to a wire rack to cool completely –

When you decorate the cake, think about each member of your family, and one thing that makes them special. Can you make a special picture out of cake decoration for each member of your family? Arrange each decoration carefully on the cake. Look how beautiful the special traits of your family make your cake look!

Before you enjoy your cake, don't forget to take a picture!

I have added a link to a new song 'As One' for you to sing as well!
