The Graduated Approach

Quality First Teaching

We are an inclusive school and our teachers use their best endeavours to include all children in their lessons through support, grouping, seating arrangements and adapted teaching.

Wave 2 Intervention

Some children may need teaching of a specific skill in a way that is different to whole class learning. Interventions are planned with staff to have quick impact on an identified area of need. These interventions are reviewed frequently and adapted to ensure they are effective.

Wave 3 Intervention

TLPs.  Once a child is placed on the SEN register, they may have a Targeted Learning Plan written. This will outline any specific areas a child needs support with and how this support will take place, for example through interventions.  These are reviewed every half term and shared with parents and the child. Support from external  agencies such as Speech and language or Physiotherapy.

Family Support Worker- Miss Yates

Miss Yates works with children and families to support any emotional/behavioural needs raised by either parents/school staff or other professionals.  Children may work individually or in groups, or with family members.  Our family support worker supports many families. She has built very positive relationships with our children and families. Parents who need support with external issues such as housing can also have support from our family support worker.

EHCP

If further support is needed outside of our standard school offer to all children, an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) may be applied for through Lancashire County Council.  Funding may then be allocated to support school to meet the further needs of the child through additional resources.

For more information on EHCPs please see the website below.
